On Tuesday, June 3, School started and I was there for the morning assembly for the start of the year. On Wednesday is a regular weekly assembly, which I was there for too. Here are some pictures of the kids. The Grade 9 girls are leading the assembly, each week a different class takes responsibility. They do a song, a prayer, a Bible reading as well as adding things like an interesting news item, a quiz, etc. They also alternate the language of the assembly each week between English, Malayalam and Hindi. There are two morning assemblies, and then a longer assembly Friday afternoon taken by the RTI students.
I was able to get all of the equipment set up for the online ESL program. All of the Grade 9 girls are now enrolled and beginning their work. It’s going to be an interesting challenge as technology isn’t always reliable, and the online format will be a new experience too. Pray that any issues will be worked out as this could be the beginning of something new. Connecting the students to others in the Christian community, both in India and around the world, has many possibilities. It also opens the door to giving the girls the opportunity to graduate with certification from the USA or Canada.
My teaching year is finished, back here in Canada. I’m home in Sayward for two months, which is an opportunity to work on some unfinished projects. Hopefully this will mean our house could go on the market this Fall or in the Spring. I will be starting the process of applying for my OCI or PIO visa through a contact in India. This was something I felt was integral to going to India, since it gives us long term access without restriction. I met with the Missions Committee at Granville Chapel in June, and gave a report to our home church in Sayward. Please continue to parter with us in prayer. So many of these things depend on God moving some mountains for us.
